Jones of Washington 2016 Pybus Market White Wine, Columbia Valley, $17
The Jones family operates an engaging tasting room inside Wenatchee’s charming Pybus Public Market along the Columbia River, and they’ve created an off-dry blend of Viognier (75%) and Sauvignon Blanc as a tribute. It is the family’s first white wine blend, pulling Viognier from Unit 10 Vineyard on the Wahluke Slope and Sauvignon Blanc off Lauzier Vineyard in the Ancient Lakes, both estate plantings, and the nose is one of orange Creamsicle, dusty Asian pear and clementine pith. Flavors of fruit salad come with an abundance of sweetness (5% residual sugar), backed by the juice and skin of Rainier cherry. Its profile is that of a brunch wine, so serve well-chilled and pair with Asian fare and other spicy foods.
