Cellardoor Winery 2014 Petit Verdot, American, $24
By Great Northwest Wine on June 12, 2018
Cellardoor Winery labels this Petit Verdot “American,” an unusual step, but it’s a winery in Lincolnville, Maine, that used Washington-grown fruit and its winemaker, Aaron Peet, is a graduate of Walla Walla Community College’s wine program. The wine opens with aromas of mocha, herbs, blackeberries and blueberries, then replays them on its lush palate, adding a hint of chocolate and spice, then finishing with nice acidity and smooth tannins. This won a gold medal and best of class at the 2018 Cascadia International Wine Competition.
