Even though Jim Sanders pulls from three sites in the North Willamette Valley, his latest work under the Joleté label may remind some of a bigger style from California rather than Burgundy. Dark notes of plum, black cherry and bayberry transition to delicious balanced flavors of cherry, dark raspberry, violets and nutmeg. It’s a complex, fruity and spicy Pinot Noir that’s nicely balanced, finishing with long and soft tannins. Indeed, this lives up to the brand’s name, which translates to “a happy gathering.”
