It took two years of work with heavy equipment for the Mortimers to prepare their 14-acre vineyard on the southern edge of Oregon’s Parrett Mountain for Le Cadeau Vineyard, and they task Carlton winemaker Steve Ryan to produce these four barrels. Trajet is a new project, which starts with the five blocks established across the 28-acre parcel near Newberg, and 95 percent of the fruit was whole-cluster fermentation in conditioned French oak. There’s a theme of strawberry freezer jam, black cherry and Baker’s chocolate, backed by Assam tea and boysenberry acidity.
