Tucannon Cellars 2013 Cabernet Franc, Columbia Valley, $35
By Great Northwest Wine on August 29, 2018
The Warren family took over the charming Yakima River property that was Oakwood Cellars and continues to transition it into a winery and inviting Sugar Pine Barn events center. Phil Warren, the owner/winemaker, pulled Cabernet Franc from Alder Ridge Vineyard at 22 Brix to preserve the natural herbaceous character of that Bordeaux red. Notes of plums on parchment paper, stewed cherries, toast and Horse Heaven Hills dust come with balanced notes of mint and oregano. Red currant acidity makes for a zesty and tangy finish.
