waterbrook icon viognier 2017 bottle - Icon by Waterbrook 2017 Viognier, Columbia Valley, $24This tasting room-only tier showcases special projects by longtime John Freeman and his team, among the busiest in the Northwest. A product of Precept’s prolific Canyon Vineyard Ranch in the Yakima Valley, this Viognier is quite fragrant – hugely tropical with notes of pineapple, lychee and rosewater. On the palate, the approach remains tropical but turns dry with rambutan and a light sheen of verbena creating a pleasing mouth feel. Blood orange acidity makes for a rather crisp finish.
