TruthTeller Winery 2014 The Confidante Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Mountain $45
By Great Northwest Wine on December 17, 2018
Owner/winemaker Chris Loeliger wisely relies on Red Mountain’s pioneering Williams family for the opening chapter of his reserve Cab program. He not only invested in fruit from their Kiona Vineyard but also their Heart of the Hill site, then followed up with 30 months in a French oak program – two of those five barrels being new. As a result, it’s a red filled with dark cherries, cocoa powder, nutmeg, clove and toast. Fine-grained tannins blossom and transition into a finish of boysenberry, bittersweet chocolate and more toast. And as is often the case with Cabs off Red Mountain, patience will be rewarded.
