Kamloops, a city made famous beyond British Columbia by its junior hockey history, now is home to this wine program in the Thompson Valley. Galen Barnhardt has brought the skills he learned at Brock University in Niagara and CedarCreek Estate Winery in the Okanagan Valley to oversee the 75-acre vineyard project that’s part of this ranch. There is a richness to the nose of blueberry, Marionberry and blackcurrant candy, which lead to fruity and approachable flavors of Marionberry pie juice, blackcap raspberry and baking spice. Bright acidity pushes the tannins to the background. Suggested pairings include salmon, mushroom dishes, roasted duck breast or pink peppercorn steak, inspired by the culinary program at their on-premise Terrace Restaurant on Miner’s Bluff Road.
