Rob Entrekin, Wine Press Northwest’s 2016 Washington Winery to Watch, spotlights the Lawrence family’s underrated Corfu Crossing Vineyard in the lofty Frenchman Hills near Royal City. It offers a nosefull of blackberry and Bing cherry with mocha, sassafras and eucalyptus. Inside, there’s richness reminiscent of cherry juice and blackberry jam as sandy Bing cherry skin tannins making for a long penetrating finish capped by fennel. Great complexity within an age-worthy structure are in store from the bottling of these three barrels at Woodinville’s Artisan Hill district, which earned best of class at last year’s Savor NW Wine Awards.
