By Great Northwest Wine on March 9, 2019

A trio of Washington state’s historic vineyards — led by James Beard Award nominee Mike Sauer’s Red Willow — are blended to create one of the Northwest’s best examples of Sangiovese. There’s a touch of Super Tuscan to it with Cabernet Sauvignon in the background. Dried cherry, blueberry-pomegranate juice, cola and crushed brick aromas lead to rich flavors of Marionberry pie and blueberry. Ample tannins and restrained acidity make for a structure that dances across the palate rather stripping. Bing cherry and boysenberry account for a medium finish. Look for it at Lombardi’s Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar in either Mill Creek or the Everett Marina.
