Township 7 Vineyards & Winery 2016 Merlot, Okanagan Valley $25
By Great Northwest Wine on March 14, 2019

Blue Terrace Vineyard in British Columbia’s southern Okanagan Valley has long been a staple of the Bordeaux-inspired program at Township 7, so the Naramata Bench winery locked it up by purchasing the 12-acre planting in the summer 2018. Clone 181 fruit from vines dating to 2000 make up the platform for this bold Merlot that opens with dark toast and roasted coffee tones that are met by bright flavors of Montmorency cherry with blueberry and washed by well-managed tannins. Suggested pairings include Blueberry Duck Breast or a grilled steak with roasted potatoes.
