King Estate 2017 Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley $19
By Great Northwest Wine on May 7, 2019

As much as some in Oregon want Chardonnay to become the state’s iconic white wine, here is the flagship Pinot Gris not only for King Estate, but also for the entire state. Brent Stone is the latest winemaker to shine with Pinot Gris for the King family. Alluring aromas of honeysuckle, Uncola and gooseberry pick up secondary hints of fresh-cut celery and orange blossom. The delicious entry of cantaloupe and Bosc pear gets an early pop of spritzy acidity that makes it fun, leading into a serious stream of Meyer lemon juice to keep it mouthwatering and easily dealing with the residual sugar of 0.5% percent.
