Northwest Cellars 2014 Madrigal Red Wine, Columbia Valley $28

By on June 1, 2019

In a slight departure from his 2013 vintage, Totem Square vintner Robert Delf boosted the influence of Grenache to 50% in this GSM blend with Mourvèdre (30%) and Syrah. The results are delicious. Enticing aromas of blackberry pie, dried herbs and chai spices such as clove and allspice open into a balanced structure of black and blue fruit, backed by smooth tannins, pomegranate juice and a pinch of earthiness for added complexity. This marks the second time in the past three vintages that Northwest Cellars has earned our top rating for its GSM work.
