Buty Winery 2016 Conner Lee Vineyard 59% Merlot 41% Cabernet Franc, Columbia Valley $45
By Great Northwest Wine on June 2, 2019

Chris Dowsett cast more of a spotlight on the 1991 block of Cabernet Franc at Conner Lee Vineyard than Buty Winery has in more than a decade, and this offering from one of Washington’s most historic vineyards marks the 17th time that this Walla Walla brand has bottled a blend of Merlot and Cab Franc. The 2016 vintage marked the earliest harvest at Conner Lee by Nina Buty, with the Cab Franc picked Oct. 1 at nearly 25 Brix. The theme of dark red currant, sweet herbs and blueberry skins are rich and mouthfilling, capped by cherry jam. Enjoy with a rib eye and sautéed mushrooms.
