Sokol Blosser Winery 2015 Blossom Ridge Sparkling Rosé of Pinot Noir, Eola-Amity Hills, $60

Robin Hawley added some layers to her sparkling wine background when she worked in the Languedoc as she and Alex Sokol Blosser continue to take impressive strides with bubbles beyond those within their popular Evolution tier. At the core is Blossom Ridge Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills, a site that’s part of the Salmon-Safe program. Harvest began Aug. 19, followed by 32 months of tirage, and the dosage of 0.7% residual sugar leads to a pleasing presentation of cherries, honeydew melon and Mandarin orange. Pleasing mousse makes for a pleasant mouth feel and a long, juicy finish that’s utterly tasty. Suggested pairings bring to mind Sunday brunch with buttermilk pancakes, blackberry or peach jam, and French toast influenced by blood orange.
