Northwest Cellars 2014 Oscuro Red Wine, Columbia Valley, $56
By Great Northwest Wine on July 7, 2019

This fall, founder Robert Delf toasts his 15th anniversary as Chief Week Geek for Northwest Cellars in Kirkland, Wash., and this 50/50 blend of Petite Sirah from Kiona Vineyard on Red Mountain with Malbec off acclaimed Verhey Vineyard in the Yakima Valley ranks among his most prized bottlings sold out of his Totem Square facility. It offers charming qualities of both varieties as delectable touches of Bing cherry, bittersweet chocolate and toffee come with enjoyable brightness, lingering tannins and a pinch of chai spices as Oscuro lives up to its meaning in Italian – “dark.”
