Boomtown by Dusted Valley 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, Washington State, $19

By on July 21, 2019

Dusted Valley Vintners co-owners Chad Johnson and Corey Braunel collaborate with the Jones family for fruit from Two Gun Vineyard in the Anicent Lakes of Columbia Valley and decorated grower Tom Merkle for young McNary Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills on this expression of Washington Cab created for everyday enjoyment. Aromas of cherry juice and blueberry included milk chocolate and black olive brine. Its approachable structure, accented by dabs of Petit Verdot and Malbec, allows for flavors of chocolate-covered blueberries with cherry-skin tannins and a dusty finish found so often in wines influenced by the Horse Heaven Hills. The Boomtown brand has become part of the Dreyfus, Ashby & Co., portfolio that includes wines by the famed Drouhin family, which makes the Boomtown lineup particularly appealing to restaurants.
