Aluvé Winery 2016 Menozzi Vineyard Estate Petit Verdot, Walla Walla Valley $52
By Great Northwest Wine on July 24, 2019

The Menozzis, who both flew for the Air Force, planted just three red Bordeaux varieties across their 10-acre estate along historic Mill Creek Road in 2012. Petit Verdot is among those, and it quickly has earned a spot in their young program. These two barrels of fifth-leaf fruit show the investment of new French oak with a nose of steaming French roast coffee, plum and blackberry. Nearly two years in barrel makes for a dense and thewy structure that offers a delicious continuation of that same black fruit that’s joined by more coffee in the finish.
