Boomtown by Dusted Valley 2017 Red Wine, Washington State, $19

By on July 24, 2019

These brothers-in-law from Wisconsin branch out from their five standalone varietal wines under their 20,000-case Boomtown brand with this red blend. The foundation is Merlot (61%) with Cabernet Sauvignon (34%) and Petite Sirah, and its another example of their relationship with McNary Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills and Two Gun Vineyard, a Jones-family planting in the Ancient Lakes of Columbia Valley. They’ve made it easy to get into and quaffable as the fruit-forward nose of sweet blueberry, cherry candy and milk chocolate leads to flavors of dark blue fruit, nicely resolved tannins and an olive pit finish. Suggested pairings include pork, venison, rabbit or this recipe for Meatball Sliders with Red Wine Onion Jam.
