Retired chemistry teacher Doug Simmons sources from two of the Walla Walla Valley’s top vineyards for his Bordeaux program, and he targets Les Collines when it comes to Malbec. This blue-fruited expression lines up with the style that Simmons established more than a decade ago at the Walla Walla airport complex – approachable, low-alcohol and ageable. Marionberry, baking spice and earthy notes lead to flavors of blackberry cobbler and plum with smooth tannins and a juicy blueberry finish.
