Washington Hills Winery 2017 Chardonnay, Washington State, $11
By Great Northwest Wine on September 11, 2019

Best Buy! Hal Landvoigt, director of winemaking for Precept, oversees this long-lived brand created in 1988 in Sunnyside, and he takes pride in the continuing the label’s reputation for offering value. Traditionally, some of the state’s largest and best-known vineyards contribute to the Chardonnay program, which includes six months in oak. There’s some classic Chardonnay aspects to the profile, starting with its nose of pear, apple, dried apricot and butterscotch. There’s some richness to the structure of lemon curd and pear butter, yet ample acidity to balance the lightly buttery finish. Enjoy with poultry, seafood, creamy pasta dishes and curries.
