Northwest Cellars 2014 Kiona Vineyard Petite Sirah, Red Mountain, $36
By Great Northwest Wine on October 14, 2019

The Williams family of Kiona fame also counts more than 60 wineries as customers for its fruit. Requests for Petite Sirah prompted Scott Williams to plant nearly 5 acres of the brawny Rhône red in 2011 at Heart of the Hill Vineyard, and Northwest Cellars vintner Robert Delf appears to have got his foot in the door quickly. Aromas of dusty plum, blackberry jam and blueberry pie pick up cinnamon powder. Blackcurrant joins that purple fruit profile on the palate, where there’s plenty texture and an intriguing note of menthol in the finish.
