Lynn Penner-Ash continued her impeccable work with Viognier with this bottling, yet another example of the famed Oregon winemaker’s versatility that stretches beyond Pinot Noir. And the North Willamette Valley producer again relies on Southern Oregon sites Crater View Vineyard (45%), RoxyAnn Vineyard (32%), Sundown Vineyard (18%) and Power Block Vineyard. It is 100% Viognier and saw 0% oak. The opening is redolent of ripe orchard fruit—apple and pear—white lilies, Key lime and mint. The palate has true fruit impact, but rocks with citrus acidity, crafting a bottle that’s easy and enjoyable to drink. It received a double gold medal and earned best of class last fall at the Great Northwest Invitational Wine Competition.
