rex hill pinot noir willamette valley 2016 bottle - Rex Hill Vineyards 2016 Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, $35

The team at A to Z Wineworks, led by Michael Davies, Olivier Prost and Anna Welch Prost, sources from each North Willamette Valley growing region for this flagship Pinot Noir under the historic REX HILL brand. A product of a vintage viewed by critics as Oregon’s best since 2012, there’s a toastiness to the nose of Marionberry pie, black cherry, plum and whiff of tar. Those same purple fruit notes come through as deep flavors with a wonderful mouth feel of silky tannins, a pinch of pepper and a finish of Montmorency cherry and chocolate, a lingering sign of the 10 months in 29% new French oak. Enjoy with Rosemary Beef Tenderloin Skewers or Mushroom Risotto, with the help of this winery recipe, and look for this bottling at Total Wine & More.
