Cedergreen Cellars 2017 Old Vine Chenin Blanc, Columbia Valley, $19

Few in the Northwest can match Kevin Cedergreen’s consistency and dedication to Chenin Blanc, and it starts with Solstice Vineyard, a site in the Yakima Valley near Prosser, Wash., that turns 40-year-old with the 2020 vintage. Orchard floor, jasmine and raw honey all race out the glass. On the palate, citrus acidity is the name of the game, coursing through notes of fresh apples and flower blooms. On the finish, it’s ultra-dry. The Cedergreens recently opened up a tasting room in Woodinville’s Artisan Hill, and they continue to earn the trust of wine shops, restaurants and grocers such as PCC, QFC, Central Market and Whole Foods. Enjoy their stylish Chenin with Dungeness crab, grilled fish or shrimp in a cream sauce and mussels in coconut milk sauce. Last fall, it earned a gold medal the Great Northwest Invitational Wine Competition in the Columbia Gorge.
