A product of the longest harvest in its history, Amavi Cellars reaches into five of its seven estate vineyards for this berry-backed and smoky Syrah. Fruit from Seven Hills and Les Collines accounts for 55% of the final blend as nearly equal portions of Stone Valley, Pepper Bridge and Summit View factor in, as does a juicy dose of Grenache (12%). Blueberry, smoked meat and leathery aromas transition into flavors blackcurrant, blueberry and pomegranate, capped by Earl Grey tea and a pinch of allspice. Their site includes a list of recipes for food pairings, and ratatouille is a suggestion with the Amavi Syrah, as are gyros, paella, barbecued pork fajitas and cheesecake.
