Year after year, the Gladhart family offers remarkable value with its Watershed Pinot Noir program, and this third-generation farm along the upper reaches of the Dundee Hills takes special pride with its 21 acres of Pinot Noir planted in the telltale red Jory soil. Selected from blocks of Dijon clones 114 and 115, Pommard and Wädenswil, harvest for the Watershed took place from Sept. 23 to Oct. 7. Very little oak gets the way of this rather pure expression of Pinot Noir, featuring inviting aromas of strawberry taffy, lavender and thyme. There’s plenty of early juiciness as ripe strawberry and Bing cherry flavors lead to a finish of plum skin tannins.
