Alexana Winery 2019 Terroir Series Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley, $32

Bryan Weil extends his success with cool-climate varieties with this assemblage from an underrated 35-year-old site for Pinot Gris on Pete’s Mountain — Stoneridge Vineyard — and two Dundee Hills sites in Belle Vida and Alexan’s Revana Estate. While five different fermentation vessels were used on the lots brought in at a combined 22.5 Brix, most of it took place in stainless steel to preserve its citrusy approach. Aromas of tangerine and pink grapefruit include a whiff of minerality. The drink is delicious as ripe peach and naval orange flavors are lifted by a sense of spritzy lemon/lime acidity and kept tight by the finish of pink grapefruit pith.
