Best Buy! It makes sense that the success each year of the Long Shadows Vintners program with rosé of Pinot Gris — Julia’s Dazzle — could translate to the Nine Hats Pinot Gris. Of the 10 bottlings by Nine Hats, four of them are produced with white varieties — and two of them are Pinot Gris. This is a classic Washington example of Pinot Gris in its tropical and rich approach of passion fruit, pineapple and honeysuckle that’s joined by fresh apricot for a finish that brings some body and a remarkably long finish. As a result, it earned a gold medal at the 2020 Washington State Wine Competition. Enjoy with Dungeness crab or try with the Super Sprint Calzone — featuring roasted chicken, pesto and Mama Lil’s peppers — at the Nine Pies Pizzeria next door to the Nine Hats tasting room at SODO Urbanworks.
