David Jachter enjoyed a career as one of the Northwest’s most successful automobile dealers, and now he and his wife, Karen, are embarking on a new chapter as entreprenuers in the Oregon wine industry. Their commitment to quality became immediately evident when they recruited Jared Etzel as their winemaker and consultant. The Jachters have established a vineyard near Dopp Creek northwest of Newberg, their desire to launch included working with neighboring Case Vineyard for one of their first projects — a rosé of Wädensvil clone Pinot Noir. Its bright color is akin to an adult fruit punch, and there’s a fun and dusty nose of cherry candy, strawberry/rhubarb compote and mist of blood orange oil. Those notes are presented with a fruity yet bone-dry approach, leading with strawberry and watermelon, cherry vanilla and a finish of blood orange.
