Certified sustainably farmed ingredients continue to attract attention, and Ponzi family has been at the forefront of this movement in the Oregon wine industry. Their reserve expression of Chardonnay from the young Laurelwood District appellation features five vineyards that fit the criteria as Ponzi-owned Aurora and Avellana sites are blended with Alloro, Paloma and Three Cedars vineyards. Luisa Ponzi committed this project to a total of 20 months in mostly neutral barrels, beginning with six months of weekly stirring of the lees. As a result, it’s a wine redolent of marzipan, lemon, angel food cake and butterscotch, featuring a nicely rounded texture that includes ample acidity and a lengthy finish of those same notes.
