Waterbrook Winery 2018 Vintner’s Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, $16

By on August 1, 2021

Best Buy! Precept continues to prove that it can deliver at any price point, and this work with Cabernet Sauvignon from John Freeman’s team in the Walla Walla Valley can be valued for a variety of reasons. Here’s another understated work with a Bordeaux red that displays a sense of sophistication for those not seeking a fruit bomb. Rather, it opens with a nose of dried red fruit, green peppercorns and a pinch of Italian herbs. The entry is sensual in its presentation of lush red fruit and underlying herbaceousness that picks up a bit of Earl Grey tea and leads out with quite enjoyable brightness reminiscent of raspberry, cassis and Craisins.
