Kit Singh focuses his attention on historic plantings, underrated vineyards or sites rising in prominence, and those qualities apply to Colin Morrell’s Lonesome Spring Ranch in the Yakima Valley just west of famous Red Mountain. The Woodinville winemaker arrived at a Rhône-inspired rosé with his equal amounts of Grenache (41%) and Mourvèdre (41%) and equal amounts of Cinsaut (9%) and Counoise (9%) to create a wine that begins with a charming color of Provence — and brings a profile to match. The nose of Rainier cherry, pink watermelon, white peach and Golden Delicious apple does not disappoint on the palate, where there’s great weight and pleasing texture. It’s remarkably fruity yet bone-dry, finishing with flavors of golden raspberry and pink strawberry. Suggested pairings include a wide range of appetizers, including smoked salmon, seafood or charbroiled barbecue fare.
