In 2017, retired school psychologist Mike Jacobsen purchased this small vineyard near Prosser, Wash., that was first planted in the 1980s. Jacobsen renamed it Above The Curve Vineyard, and here he works with former Ste. Michelle winemaker Ron Bunnell to produce small lots of this white Bordeaux grape. It opens with a nice golden color and has all the right things in place and nicely stacked. There’s lemon curd, toasted sesame seed and pear butter framed by delicious balance and capped by lemon pith. Award: Sunset International Wine Competition (gold).
