There were more than 30 gold medal Malbecs in the 22nd Platinum Awards, and Lewis-Clark Valley producers Rick Wasem and Lynn DeVleming near the Snake River in Clarkston, Wash., claimed their third Platinum for standalone work with this bright Bordeaux red made famous in Argentina. The theme of dark blueberries, black currant and light toast is joined by pomegranate acidity and a bite of Western serviceberry.
