The Garvin family, with more than a century of farming in their background, spotlights their Sams Valley Vineyard with this bottling handled by the winemaking team at Barrel 42 in Medford. Red currant and boysenberry mix with the pinch of leafiness that wafts out from the barrel notes of clove and nutmeg. Montmorency cherry provides the food-friendly acidity, and the suitable amount of tannin will serve it well with herb-rubbed poultry, stuffed peppers, Eggplant Parmesan, grilled asparagus and pasta in a red sauce.
