It seems fitting that Jim Dahlman’s first standalone tasting room would be in Tacoma’s historic Stadium District considering that his mother-in-law served as an emergency room nurse at nearby Tacoma General Hospital. He pays tribute to her with this zesty blend of Grenache (59%) and Syrah (41%) from Los Rocosos Vineyard and Red Mountain Railroad Vineyard. A whiff of cured meat, plum and cola from the Syrah is joined by strawberry-rhubarb compote and boysenberry from the Grenache. On the palate, the gaminess and dark tones of Syrah are washed away by juiciness of golden raspberry and Craisin skin on the finish.
