Winescape Wines 2018 Merlot, Columbia Valley $32.00
By Great Northwest Wine on April 12, 2022
The Butterfields used Merlot from Bacchus Vineyard to win best of class at the 2020 Washington State Wine Competition, and their expression from the 2018 vintage now has earned a gold medal before its official release. An enticing blend of Bing cherry and Marionberry is joined by toast, clove and vanilla. The approach is brilliant and polished as the structure lends itself to suggested pairings with marinated flank steak or Pad Thai.
Rating: Gold medal – 91 points
Production: 214 cases
Alcohol: 15.3%
