This estate project by this trio linked by family, friendship and The Horse Radish in downtown Carlton, Ore., now serves up a reserve Chardonnay approach in its 100% oak influence yet comes with delicious balance. Of those barrels, 20% were new French oak, accounting for the hint of brioche behind the dusty pear, Granny Smith apple and lemony aromas. There’s pleasing brightness to the entry as pear butter and lemon curd create a rewarding texture on the midpalate that yields to a lingering citrus finish with a lick of toast. The incorporation of fruit, barrel, mouthfeel and acidity is delivered with ideal timing. Look for this at the Carton Chardonnay Social on June 24.
