The focus on fruit from Rawn-managed sites in the Rattlesnake Hills above the Yakima Valley pays off again for winemaker Leigh McMillan with this predictably bold blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (57%), Petit Verdot (29%) and Merlot from Dineen, Copeland and Marcela vineyards. There’s a boatload of black fruit — black plum, black currant, blackberry and black cherry — while toasty undertones from French, American and Hungarian oak leave room for some Old World earthiness and cola. Plum skin tannins provide pleasing tension that leads out with a juicy pomegranate/blueberry finish.
