Vino Vasai Wines / The Potter’s Vineyard 2018 Estate Reserve Pinot Noir, Chehalem Mountains, $58

August 30, 2022 by Great Northwest Wine Leave a Comment

The 2022 Oregon Winery to Watch in the eyes of Great Northwest Wine received a double gold at this year’s Cascadia International for the 2018 Estate Reserve Pinot Noir crafted along a plateau above the town of Newberg by winemaker/pottery artist Bill Sanchez, and this bottling marks his seventh vintage of working with the site planted by Laura Volkman in 2001 and originally known as Elle Rêve Vineyard. The farming and cellarwork by Sanchez leads to a pretty Pinot Noir that presents with layers of cherry cola, raspberry, rose petal, sandalwood and a dash of pepper. There’s a sense of piquant on the entry that transitions to boysenberry as soft and well-integrated tannins carry through to a finish of pie cherry.

Rating: Outstanding! Double gold medal – 94 points

Production: 126 cases

Alcohol 13.9%
