Precept CEO Andrew Browne collaborated with Portland artist Melanie Catherine Nead to transport some of his late grandfather’s remarkable life experiences into a mural displayed at the Browne Family Vineyards satellite tasting room in Tacoma’s Proctor District. Browne’s marketing team has turn a portion of that mural into the label for this lively Rhône-inspired white. Browne’s longtime winemaker in Walla Walla, John Freeman, relied on Yakima Valley sites Golden View/Boushey and lesser-known Carousel for the majority of this Grenache Blanc (42%), Marsanne (25%), Roussanne (18%), Picpoul (9%) and Viognier. Its brightness and profile is reminiscent of an Oregon-style Pinot Gris – dusty Bosc pear, starfruit, Golden Delicious apple and lemon curd with a flash of lime zest. Suggested pairings include seafood, tapas and crudité.
