For this Left Bank-inspired blend, Robert Delf essentially blended two barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon with a barrel each of Merlot and Carménère, and he did so with delicious success. Kiona on Red Mountain has contributed to many of Totem Square vintner’s top wines, and the herbal variety’s influence comes through in the nose, where pink peppercorns, horehound, fresh cedar and dusty Craisin are joined by blueberry taffy. There is harmony to remarked mouthfeel as pliable tannins create a silkiness that makes for a long pulse of boysenberry preserves and black cherry.
