Best Buy! Seattle-based Precept Wine sold Wallula Vineyards to Prudential in 2020, but director of winemaking Hal Landvoigt continues to source grapes from this spectacular site that’s now depicted on the Washington State Department of Licensing’s “Washington Wine” specialty license plate that raises funds for Washington state tourism. California iconoclast Randall Grahm used on Riesling from Wallula to help raise the profile of his far-flung Pacific Rim project, and this example by Washington Hills is deliciously dry, even though it opens with fanciful aromas of cotton candy, peach soda and Ambrosia salad. Inside, it ranges from lemon/lime on the entry, nectarine and honeydew melon on the midpalate and a finish of peach skin and slate amid a structure that lines up with the 0.6% residual sugar.
