Great Northwest Wine magazine’s reigning Pacific Northwest Winery of the Year uses this Cab from four sites on Red Mountain — Grand Ciel, Upchurch, Ciel du Cheval and Klipsun — for the Four Flags label’s third Platinum in the past three vintages. It presents a marvelous balance of fruit and oak (85% new French barrels) as cassis, Bing cherry, mocha, cinnamon bark and leather waft in the nose and play out across the palate. “It is fruit-driven and beautifully built with refined tannins that make it very consumer friendly,” offered one judge. Qualifying awards: Cascadia International (gold) Seattle Wine Awards (gold)
