Woodinville winemaker Kevin Cedergreen’s affinity for Loire Valley varieties and enduring success with them led him to a pair of sites connected to longtime Yakima Valley viticulturist/winemaker David Minick — Willow Crest and Skyline – for this rosé that’s a 50/50 blend of Gamay and Cabernet Franc. Its color leans towards Provence as pinkish salmon, and the nose is compelling, fruity and bright with hints of cantaloupe, orange marmalade, Cap’n Crunch Crunch Berries, saffron and ginger. The attack is berry-driven as pink strawberry and crushed golden raspberries created pleasing weight on the midpalate, making for an enjoyable rosé that’s fruity and serious. The Cedergreens suggest serving this with smoked trout, chicken salad or an assortment of cheese.
