Brian Petersen continued success as a chiropractor, real estate investor and winemaker on the Kitsap Peninsula allows him to invest some of Washington state’s finest grapes for his Cabernet Sauvignon program. His sourcing from vineyards across the region such as Kiona on Red Mountain, Pepper Bridge in the Walla Walla Valley and Phinny Hill Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills comes together in this bottling, that includes some Cabernet Franc (5%) for complexity. Alluring barrel notes of sesame paste and cinnamon toast quickly pick up blackberry, cola and pinches of black pepper, Horse Heaven Hills minerality and sweet herbs from the Franc. That deep purple fruit profile hints at the Walla Walla Valley, bringing along fine-grained tannins that build with for a medium-long finish joined by black cherry and leather. It will benefit from a bit of decanting because it’s built for the long haul.
