The cadre of winemakers at Château Ste. Michelle are given smaller projects under the brand’s Limited Release program, which Vintage Reserve Club members receive access to and discounts on. The scope of this Rhône-only blend by Lacey Steffey takes in several of the Yakima Valley’s top family-owned vineyards — Den Hoed, Dineen, Olsen Brothers and historic Upland. The influence of Syrah (72%) is apparent with its swirling theme of toothsome dark blue fruit, including some earthiness of Mourvèdre (14%) and pomegranate juiciness from Grenache (11%) and Cinsaut. The sandy tannins and bright structure keep the focus on the delicious boysenberry finish.
