He’s on the path to a fourth as his 2023 reached the sweepstakes of the Cascadia International as the Best Rosé of the judge. It’s glimmering soft coral color is an invitation to explore further. Strawberry, guava, rose petal and minerality start the discussion of the aromas. The flavors include more rhubarb and more tropical influences. That minerality turns into river pebbles, while the ripe fruit is balanced by the acidity that leaves a clean finish, capped by a drop of honeysuckle. At less than 3 grams per liter (0.3%) of residual sugar, that’s below the level of perceptible sweetness, which means there’s magic to the fruit profile. However, the price point is quite sweet for consumers.
