Best Buy! Napa Valley visionary Bill Leigon continues his collaboration with Pacific Rim Winemakers in Richland, Wash., for Beckstone — a young value-driven brand that first earned our attention with a Cabernet Sauvignon. Here, the former J. Lohr marketing manager reaches into storied Horse Heaven Hills site Wallula Vineyard for Sauvignon Blanc, and veteran winemakers Tim Henley and Steven Sealock present much of what “Sauvy” lovers desire. The experience begins with classic notes of gooseberry, Granny Smith apple and a faint whiff of tomcat, along with a hint of lychee. On the palate, it’s sleek with green-skinned fruit, kiwi on the midpalate and a juicy finish — a product of one of the most environmentally conscious winemaking facilities in the Pacific Northwest.
